This role plays a key technical leadership role in phone and tablet mechanical architecture. This role will bring technical innovation to the telecom arena and will deliver compelling new products to market. The individual applying for this position will not only work within a mechanical engineering team but also will work with a technically diverse and competent multi:functional and multi discipline product development team. Some of the expected deliverables of the job are:
: Develop robust and simple mechanical architectures
: Layout products for JDM development detailing and execution
: Support existing design integration and develop new products
: Utilize standard and new materials in component and assemblies to design outstanding telecom products
: Evolve product development processes where and when needed to deliver better and faster
: Lead mechanical design feasibility, part and system design, analysis, validation, and part specification development
: Design with manufacturing strategies and quality in mind
Mentor other experienced engineers
Job Responsibilities:
The candidate must have 10+ years of relevant work experience and a proven successful track record of delivering sophisticated, innovative, and forward looking telecom products. Responsibilities and expertise include and are not limited to:
: Partner with ID, cross functional engineering, and supplier teams
: Achieve ID intent for distinguished product designs
: Develop telecom products from concept to mass production
o Create product layouts and split parts and assemblies for other engineers to follow through execution
o Ensure parts, assemblies, and subassemblies designed by internal or external partners meet the product specifications, quality, budget and schedule.
o Work proficiently with different development approaches (CM, ODM, JDM, etc.)
o Work with tool engineers and ODM partners for effective tool architecture, manufacturing yields, and part quality
: Design for manufacturing and assembly
: Design for quality
: Drive analytical modeling and validation to provide early and sound design direction
: Provide risk assessment, priorities, and identify/predict engineering issues
: Assess materials, processes, and technologies to set and meet product goals
: Document all technical data, information (CAD database, technical papers, presentations, specifications, etc) according to Intels standards
: Protect Intellectual Property

Education, Training, and Experience:
: Bachelors degree (Masters preferred) in mechanical engineering or equivalent is required.
: 10+ years of mechanical product design engineering experience in mobile wireless handset industry.
: Experience in high volume manufacturing
o Mobile product system assembly and manufacturing
o Component and subassembly level manufacturing such as:
: Plastic injection molding, rubber molding, metal stamping, forming, etc.
: Finishes: painting, plating, anodizing, IMD/IML, insert molding, etc
: Expert level CAD (proE skills), tolerance analysis, and experimental failure analysis
: Working knowledge of FEA post processing and familiar with FEA tools.
: Entrepreneurial drive and demonstrated technical leadership experience
: Ability to work in a multi:cultural, multi:site environment
: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
: Ability to influence peers of technical and management background
